AboutWhat are some of your greatest accomplishments?
“I’m glad you asked! I’ve starred in a reality TV gameshow. I’ve traveled 4,000 miles in 11 hours wearing high heels and I’ve donated a gallon of blood--not all in one shot.” That's grand! But, I meant professional accomplishments. "Oh." ::blushes:: "In that case, I am the creator and host of an online talk show called of Women of Action with Lenina. I speak with super women who are leaders and creators. I also work on an award winning news team and it's my job to tell interesting stories about events at all CUNY colleges. Give me a recorder and I'll make a podcast. Give me a camera and I'll create an inspiring video. And give me a pen and I'll write you a feature. Any questions?" Actually, Yes. What makes you unique? "Interesting question. I'd say my background helped me to develop a unique [storytelling] voice. I'm lucky to have been raised in a Haitian-American household in the greatest city ever--Brooklyn, NY! I have roots in an island rich in culture and I was born in the city that never sleeps. That means I've got swag." Good to know. ::Deadpan:: What else have you got? "Wow, tough crowd... Other things that make me unique... I have experience reporting on a range of topics like politics, fashion, education, arts & culture. Also, I have two Bachelor's degrees--one in Journalism from Brooklyn College and the other in Biology from Stony Brook University." Okay, let's wrap this up. "I am a proud alumna of Bard High School Early College, a member of the New York chapter of the National Association of Black Journalists and a mentor for First Take News--NYABJ's high school journalism workshop." Last question--are you finished? "Yep, for now..." "One more thing, here's my resume." |
